Bimbo, who is the Managing Partner of the firm, is a seasoned corporate and commercial lawyer with a strong bias for Labour and Employment Law and the Law of Taxation. A chartered tax practitioner and arbitrator, he is a much sought after consultant and has consulted for several multinational companies and organisations on corporate/cormmercial law, Labour and Tax law issues. He heads the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Law practice. A regular conference speaker on Labour and Employment Law and the Law of Taxation, Bimbo has authored and edited a number of leading works in Labour Law, the Law of Taxation and Company Law. Bimbo is currently the Deputy chairman of the Commercial Law and Taxation Committe of the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and industry(LCCI) and he sits on the board of some private companies.

Education and Biography

  • Member of the legal team that represented M-Tel at the Federal Government set up Panel of Inquiry into the operations of the now defunct NITEL and M-Tel (2002)
  • Member of the legal team that represented a group of Nigerian companies (with substantial shareholding held by Lebanese nationals) in the debt restructuring involving a consortium of some major Nigerian Banks
  • Lead adviser to a core investor in the aborted acquisition of substantial shares in an hotel owned by a consortium of some State governments in Nigeria
  • Provided legal advice to a major concessionaire of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in respect of an over 12 Billion naira construction project situate at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos
  • Designed and reviewed the Employee Handbook, Expatriate Policy and Collective Bargaining Agreements of over twenty private and public quoted Nigerian companies cutting across different sectors including Oil & Gas, Maritime, Manufacturing, Capital Market, Telecommunications, Logistics, Banking and Financial services
  • Provided legal advisory services on tax matters to two public quoted 5 star hotels in Nigeria
  • Led the Due-Dilligence legal team for the mergers, acquisition and take-overs of several Nigerian companies
  • Participated actively in the legislative Advocacy, leading to the Third Alteration of the 1999 Constitution and which constitutional amendment vested the National Industrial Court of Nigeria with exclusive civil jurisdiction on Labour and Employment matters
  • Retained by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as the consultant to the “FIRS Compendium of Tax Laws”
  • Consulted for the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) on the development of a Training Study Manual on Nigerian Labour Laws for HR managers
  • Registered a leading Nigerian Real estate investment company and provided legal advice on the acquisition, financing and development of a mega estate along the Lekki corridor of Lagos State
  • Lead legal Adviser to a consortium of 8 major multinational shipping companies in Nigeria on the structuring of a Collective Bargaining Agreements on Employee Compensation and Terminal Benefits
  • Member of the legal team that advised and acted for a major Airline in structuring a Redundancy deal with her over 1000 workers following the take-over of the company by AMCON
  • Consulted for the Nigeria LNG on Capacity Building on Nigerian Labour Laws for NLNG (including NLNG Contractors) staff members of PENGANSSAN & NUPENG
  • Consulted for Addax Petroleum on Capacity Building on Nigerian Labour Laws & Industrial Relations for ADDAX staff members of PENGANSSAN & NUPENG
  • Consulted for Total Nigeria Plc on Capacity Building on Nigerian Labour Laws & Industrial Relations for staff members of PENGANSSAN & NUPENG
  • Consulted for a multinational Exploration & Production company in Nigeria on Employment Contract & Expatriate Policy documentation
  • Advised several multinational companies (cutting across different sectors) on taxation of their expatriate staff
  • Successfully represented a Nigerian Oil & Gas company in a suit for the enforcement of N380 million Indemnity Agreement against a leading Nigerian Bank
